H2D™ – Strategic Financial Literacy
Had you already expected that running a startup business and achieving a rewarding exit would be the most difficult challenge of your career, and then still underestimated it? If containing an out-of-control forest fire is an apt analogy, and planned, controlled burns are the preventative solution, is there a parallel solution for taming your startup?
Strategic financial planning is the discipline of building your projections of the future and de-risking success from the ground up. It is also the shortest skillset in supply for most startups and underscores why so many companies become zombies.
If you are a founder or CEO trying to be a CFO too, without a background in Finance, H2D™ offers rapid competency in the core concepts. It scraps the industry jargon and complicated math and provides you with a planning tool and 40 hours of small-group, experiential learning. You will prove your actual, current business plan as you complete the program.
Workshop: Short Takes in Strategic Planning Planning by the numbers is drudgery and most founders loathe it – but why? Because Finance attempts to measure the future – three words could also define frustration. But strategic financial planning is not witch science. Done well, it is methodical, develops your intuition for anticipating and mitigating future risks, and builds your and your investors’ confidence in your goals. In this workshop, I will introduce you to a chaotic math principle used to nail future-looking revenue projections (requiring only 8th grade math). Then, we will break down into practical steps the process of building labor plans, marketing plans and capital plans that are scalable for fast-growth startups.Note: this workshop is not HR management, advertising design or investor pitch training. There are plenty of resources that teach those things. This seminar draws on skills used in Finance to enable you to afford great people & marketing and know when you will need to raise money to grow.
